Anger Within

Anger burrows deep

Within my soul

The night seems endless and I can't sleep

Living your life takes a heavy toll

The anger is self directed

Self worth is not detected

Life as a commodity

Is cheap

Seem's it's not short enough

Walking along the chasm

Always ready to leap

Life should taste sweet

Not bitter and tough

Anger is self inflicted

Life left half empty

Half used

Leaves a soul inevitably affected

Giving a man no choice but to refuse

A hand held out

Too full of self doubt

To take what might be the final saving act

A step forward and not that final step back

Days Long Past

Whisper to me

Those words from memory

What happened to those days long past

We were naive

We felt the pain as things around us crashed

Do you still cherish those moments that used to be

When we were innocent and had stars in our eyes

When we thought all that was spoken was truth

We had yet to have those walls torn down by lies

Whisper to me

That you still remember

Those times we had

With emotions so tender

Those times now long gone

Yet still they remind us as they linger on

We seem to remember only the good

First light

The new day's creeping to life

Slipping past the last edge of night

Another chance

One more dance

With another day

Use it

As you see fit

The sun reveals

The shadows hide

Time steals

To watch the interplay

As the day chases ever closer to the night's velvet surprise
